CONFECTIONERY EXPORTS ARE PREDICTED TO GROW BY 7% IN 2021

In 2020, the export of confectionery products from Russia will stay at the 2019 level (about 1.4 billion dollars), and in 2021, deliveries abroad may increase by 7.1%, up to 1.5 billion dollars, the Association of confectionery industry enterprises (ASCOND) predicts. In the following years, exports will be more active, experts say: in 2022, it will amount to 1.95 billion dollars, in 2023 - 2.05 billion dollars, in 2024 - 2.2 billion dollars.

In 2019, the Russian confectionery industry exported 619 thousand tons of products against 539.3 thousand tons in 2018. Last year, 55% of exports (in value terms) accounted for chocolate and chocolate products, 32% - for flour and 13% - for sugar products. The products were shipped to 91 countries, which is 10 more countries than in 2018.

In 2019, 62.5% of sweets were sent to the CIS countries, 10.8% - to China, 6.3% - to the Middle East, 4.3% - to the EU countries. These export destinations, along with such countries as India, Japan, and South Korea, are considered promising for increasing the supply of confectionery products abroad.
